Better Understanding the Event Planning Process
Before interning for A Fare Extraordinaire, I had little familiarity with event proposals and planning processes. But now, I know certain venues, vendors, decor, equipment, and styles that are best paired with each other to fit each clients wants. With a better understanding about the specific steps to take when planning an event, and the event industry overall, it will be easier to provide clients with exceptionally planned events because I can better communicate correct and appropriate information to them.
A Fare Extraordinaire has taught me physically, mentally, and emotionally that events can be planned a certain way to eliminate unnecessary issues. Physically, they taught me how to track inquires in the computer, set-up and break-down for events, professionalism, how to pair food and drink items with the theme of an event, what décor pieces fit each event best, managing staff, safety precautions, and various other event duties. Mentally, I have immensely grown as an event planner by listening to how they interact with clients and probe questions to better understand them. One of the most important realizations I have had working for A Fare Extraordinaire is that organization is a crucial aspect of being a successful event planner. Being surrounded by exceptional event planners that follow professional guidelines makes me want to be the best I can be, organizationally and personally. I had the opportunity to get to know the staff at A Fare Extraordinaire and they have made a lifelong impact on my perceptions of a company I wish to work for in the future. Because many of these experiences have taken me out of my comfort zone to find answers, resolve problems, understand procedures and use them in real-life situations, and strive to go above and beyond typical intern duties, it was inevitable for me to grow personally, professionally, academically, and socially.
